The schedule is based upon a
mathematical formula that is applied to the DIVISIONS 1-9 1 Point - 95% of the shows where
there was competition for a sex of a breed, 2 Points - The two point break
is set mid-way between the one and three 3 Points - The three point break
is set so that as close as possible to 18%, 4 Points - The four point break
is set at one third of the difference 5 Points - At least 1%, but less
than 2% of the shows offering DIVISIONS 10-12 1 Point - All breeds and

Point Schedules
actual dogs in competition within each sex of each breed or
variety in each
of the nine divisions in the continental U.S. It is
calculated on a
three-year basis. The total number of shows where there was
competition for
a sex of a particular breed is taken, and the schedule for
the following
year is calculated so that as close as possible to eighteen
percent of these
shows (3, 4 or 5 points). Other percentages are used to
calculate the 1, 2,
4 and 5 point breaks. The entries at both specialty and
all-breed shows are
considered, although rotating national specialty shows are
deleted from the
calculation. The projected schedule is based upon regular
class competition
only. Thus, if additional majors are created as a result of
dogs going Best
of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex to Best of
Breed, these
are not considered in the calculations for the future
schedule. There are
so few shows in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico that these
point schedules
are calculated manually. Here it is a matter of ensuring
majors in those
areas, and also that steps are taken to try to ensure that
every show will
not carry major points for a sex of a breed or variety. The
percentages are
as follows:
will carry at least one championship point.
